  • Q:

Even though the LT4 Corvette engine is zero balanced or internally balanced, GM does trim that balance with the addition of weights in the holes equally spaced around the perimeter of the factory balancer. GM further states in their factory service manual, that when replacing a harmonic damper (remember the engine's major balance functions are done internally) that it is critical that the weights be removed and measured and the same weight or weights be added at the same place on the new damper. This product appears to only have a few holes drilled holes on one side??
How can I carry out the trim balance process. Please don't tell me it is not necessary. The company who builds the engine says it is!!! This is 6800 RPM engine and correct balance is critical to it's longevity.
