This is a two man job simply because most people don't have the facilities to support the door while moving it off the hinges.

A friend and I tackled this. We have a rule that whatever time one of us thinks it will take, the other doubles it. We said 30 minutes and assumed an hour. It actually took 90 minutes because removing the old ones is not that easy. Getting the old pins out wasn't fun but the bushings, worn half through and brittle, were a pain to remove. Once out, getting the new ones in was just as much of a hassle. No way to swing a hammer in the confined space of a door/fender.

Be very careful. These bushings are very brittle and crack/break easily. I chipped one though it should still be fine at the angle it was installed based on how the factory ones wore out.

The thing that took longest was the spring. Putting it back in is pretty scary as most people say compress it in a vise and wrap pull ties around it. I did this but felt like I was carrying a small bomb. It all turned out OK with only slight cursing and no blood spatter.

Not Too Good

For a 1997 Chevrolet K2500 pickup:

Bushings for top hinge tapped in as they should, but both broke and fell out within ten minutes after the pin was installed.

For a 1997 Chevrolet K2500 pickup:

Bushings for top hinge tapped in as they should, but both broke and fell out within ten minutes after the pin was installed.

Bushings for bottom hinge were too big, requiring a lot of extra time to disassemble then reassemble the door so the hinge could be removed and modified. I pressed these bushings in with a vise rather then tapping them in, and so far they haven't broken.

Anything that's meant to be installed by tapping for an interference fit needs to be made of better material than these brittle bushings are. And making them the right size would also be helpful.

Easy Install - Watch YouTube

Comments about Dorman - Help Door Hinge Pin and Bushing Kit - 1 Pin, 2 Bushings and 1 Clip:

Ok, most people are complaining about the bushings.

They probably damaged them during the installation, and won't look in the mirror as to why.

There are two sized bushings. The smaller ones go into the very top of the upper hinge and the very bottom of the lower hinge. Also, the pins point up in the upper hinge and down in the lower.

As the other reviewer (Frank) said, use a "press" to help install and not damage the bushings. A 5/16 bolt about 1 1/2 long with a nut and wide flat washers work very well. Search and watch videos on YouTube for this procedure.

Never hit the bushings directly with a hammer. They will break or not go in straight.

Put some white lithium grease in the bushings before you insert the pins. Grease on the pins wouldn't hurt either.

Hope this helps you with your installation.

Comments about Dorman - Help Door Hinge Pin and Bushing Kit - 1 Pin, 2 Bushings and 1 Clip:

Bushings pressed in hinge eyes smoothly, no hammering, I used a bolt/nut/flat washers/socket to make a little press type tool to draw the bushings in square and slow, also oiled the splines on the bushings to help ease them in while using the homemade "pressing" device. Remove the door completely to make plenty of room to work on the bushings. I also oiled the pins before driving them in. They will need to be hammered to set the splined pin shoulders into the hinge itself.

I used two of these for a 99 K2500 suburban driver door. Sagging is common problem

Turned out that two of my old bushings were busted, so no wonder it sagged.

Door is solid and shuts easy.

It's been in for one day and no issues. I saw some other guys have quality problems. I'll report back if anything comes up. So far, so good.

Replaced with new pin and bushing and the door still sags. The bushings break easy, had to make an extra trip to the part store to buy new bushings after the first ones broke the first time i closed the door.the pins are not the right diameter.

Door was sagging a little and the old pin and bushing seamed a little loose "I'm kinda picky I guess" so I thought I would just change it out. The problem is once I put in the new ones they are just as loose as the originals. My advise is check with a body shop and see if they can adjust door, if its not to bad, I should have done that in the first place.
