My 1997 Camry V-6 came with Denso dual ground strap plugs from the factory. The first set lasted nearly 100,000 miles. Because the back bank of cylinders is a bit hard to get to, I only want to replace them at the recommended service intervals. I'm at 193,000 miles now and just put the third set in. These plugs are well made and last a LONG time. I wouldn't use anything else.

Comments about Denso PK20TR11 Double Platinum Spark Plug:

Great OEM factory replacement for the Toyota 1MZ-FE V6. In this case a 98 Camry. Runs smooth as new and pickup is great. I would only recommend this plug for your V6 Toyota of this vintage. Keep it stock, out do you feel the counter boy is a better engineer than the fine minds at Toyota?

Just did the spark plugs because I did not knew if previous owner had done. My fuel trim numbers were as I expected but something was not good under acceleration. I replaced the plugs, wires and air filter. Wife is very happy now.

Comments about Denso PK20TR11 Double Platinum Spark Plug:

These plugs were a replacement in a 2000 Camry with 130,000 miles on the odometer. Normal replacement is about every 60K miles. I stretched it a bit. Plugs have proper gap and just require a little anti-sieze on the threads to ease installation and eventual replacement. I had replaced the original spark plugs at 65,000 miles with the same plugs and was pleased with the gas economy and engine performance. I stuck with the same plugs for the 130,000 mile change. I was preparing to sell the car so I wanted to give the buyer new plugs. They work great and are reliable. I'm sure the new owner will find them to be acceptable.

This problem may caused due to electrical fault or failure of cam sensor also. If it wasn't doing it before the plug change then verify that each numbered plug wire matches up with each corresponding cylinder. The cylinders are numbered facing an open hood 4, 3, 2, 1. Each spot the wires plug into is also numbered. If they are not matched it will mess up the timing of the cylnders firing.

I installed 6 of these on my 2000 Sienna with 1MZFE engine and am experiencing the same problem with cylinder 1 and 4. I just removed spark plug 4 and can see gray residue has built up on it. Also it seems gas has leaked down the spark plug wall.

I suspect the problem is to do with torque. The spark plugs did not come with an indication of the specified torque, neither does the owner's manual have this info. I installed with a torque of 13 ft lbs. I cannot tell why only these 2 are mulfunctioning.

            Are the plugs factory pre-gapped?

              A:

A spark plug part number might fit hundreds of different engines from many different manufacturers. Although the spark plug from the factory will come with a gap to a pre-selected setting, this may not be the right gap for your particular engine. The incorrect plug gap for your engine can contribute to a high rate of misfires, loss of power, plug fouling, poor fuel economy, and accelerated plug wear. It is always best to check the gap against the manufacturer's specifications. If adjusting the gap on fine wire or precious metal plugs such as platinum or iridium be very careful not to apply any pressure or prying force to the fine wire center electrode or insulator as they can be damaged. The gap should be adjusted by only moving the ground electrode.
This part Denso PK20TR11 Double Platinum Spark Plug, Part No. 3253 manufactured by Denso should be having Gap Size(pre-gapped ) of 0.044 in.
For compatibility of this part with your vehicle, please provide your vehicle make, model and engine specification.

I am looking at checking my car's spark plugs. I was wondering if the Thread Reach = 19mm indicated in the specifications for this product would mean that I can be able to use a 19mm socket to get this spark plug out of my car's engine? Thanks

              A:

The thread reach on a spark plug is the metal threaded portion of the spark plug body that screws into the cylinder head. The socket used to take out the spark plug is a spark plug socket which is usually found in standard sizes rather than metric. The difference between a spark plug socket and a deep standard socket is that the spark plug socket has a rubber o-ring inside socket to hold the spark plug in place while installing or uninstalling.

            • A:

No, thread reach is how long the threaded part of the spark plug is. Use resistor type spark plug socket that is different from normal sockets to take out plugs and be sure to gap them if it is necessary.
