Had a Service Fuel System Error code. Fuel Guage dropped to Empty & stayed there.
Used a double dose of Techron & it cleaned my Fuel Sending Unit. It supposedly gets gunked up on the fuel level contacts with Sulphur contained in fuels. A day later Guage came back & error cleared.

Is supposed to save my mileage.

Didn't notice any difference in fuel mileage. Dealer recommends adding, I think it is just a profit maker for the two.

I use it at least twice a year. A week before annual inspection and before road trips. Smooths out idle and improves fuel mileage. Once it freed up a sticking fuel level sender.
Best thing short of removing fuel injectors and physically cleaning them.

Comments about Chevron Techron Complete Fuel System Cleaner 12oz:

I started using Techron Fuel System cleaner in 2000. C5 Corvettes, 97-04, had a problem with the fuel gauge sensors malfunctioning. It was a big job dropping the tanks and replacing the sensors. Even thought my 2000 Corvette was under warranty for this problem I took the advice from a Corvette forum to just add Techron Fuel System Cleaner. Within one tank the gauge went back to working properly and accurately. That was 16 years ago and with a couple of bottles of Thechron every year everything is still working well. Since I had such success in 2000 I have been using it in all my automobiles. I have three high performance cars and three family cars and have never had a fuel system problem in any of the vehicles. One of my beaters has over 200,000 miles on it with 0 fuel system problem.

Comments about Chevron Techron Complete Fuel System Cleaner 12oz:

I have a 1992 Chevy Truck that I drive once or twice a week in stop and go traffic. If it sits too long without running hard the throttle body injector malfunctions (runs rich). This truck has to withstand ethanol in the gas that attracts water into the fuel from the humid air. I use good gas but the only thing that fixes the problem of stalling and missing at idle (and it works within about 20 miles if you drive highway speeds and double the dosage)is Chevron Techroline.

They add also it to fuel at their tank farms. It is backed by research done over 40 years by one of the largest oil companies on the planet.

This will not fix bad plugs, wires, distributor cap, etc. I also change fuel filter once a year to get rid of water build up.

The bottle says to add when near empty. Should I add the bottle to my fuel tank and then drive with it to fill up with gas (4 miles) away or should I add it to my fuel tank at the gas station, just prior to filling up. Which is recommended?

Hi Hollywood, glad to assist you. Pour the bottle of "Chevron Techron Complete Fuel System Cleaner 12oz (Part No. 67740)" into your near-empty tank and fill up your tank with gasoline. So, either way will work. Recommended use: One bottle every 3,000 miles.

I have a 2007 C230 Mercedes. My check engine light comes on and it recently misfired and the vehicle shutters when slowing down. Prior to the check engine light, I may have purchased a tank of bad gas. I took the vehicle to the dealership and they were unable to pinpoint the issue. If I were to drive out my gas and add the Techron and top off at another gas station could this possibly resolve my issue?

              • CUSTOMER CARE

                A:

Hi Angel the Newbie, glad to serve you! If the check engine light is flashing, then it means your engine is misfiring. A solid light can mean anything from a loose/faulty gas cap to a transmission issue. This light comes on when the computer detects a fault of some sort in its diagnostic tests. If it keeps detecting this issue, the light will remain on. If the light turns off, then it has detected that the issue may no longer be present. In order to find out what the exact reason was for your light, You need to have your car computer scanned to retrieve the code that the computer would have stored when the light triggered. The code will tell you what may have caused the light to initially turn on. However, I would suggest that you take your vehicle and get it thoroughly checked by a certified mechanic before buying any parts that may/may not solve the problem.
