Castrol EDGE is three times stronger against viscosity breakdown than the leading synthetic and leading conventional oils. The unique titanium technology physically changes the way oil behaves under extreme pressures doubling its film strength, preventing oil from breaking down and reducing friction to maximize engine performance.

Product Features:
  • Castrol EDGE with Fluid Titanium has twice the film strength of our previous formula based on the HFRR friction test.
  • Tested in 5W-30 versus all major conventional brands, Mobil1 and Mobil1 Extended Performance in the ASTM D6278 test.
  • API Service SM, SL and SJ; meets all requirements of ILSAC GF-4/GF-3/GF-2; API Certified Gasoline Engine Oils; Ford WSS-M2C930-A, Ford WSS-M2C153-H and DEXOS

Comments about Castrol EDGE 5W-30 Full Synthetic Motor Oil (1 Quart):

Grew up using Castrol (Conventional oil) and as an adult with several European cars this is my oil of choice for most cars (unless using Total or Motul). 5W-40 is actually specificially designed for most Euro Makes. Always take this over Mobile 1

  • Q:

How many miles do you get from casttrol syntec 5w-30 full synthetic oil, when used in a BMW 530xi 2006, which takes 7 quarts?
Asked on 1/8/2014 by Dr. O from CT

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

That's a great question! Many of the advanced synthetic motor oils claim up to 15,000 mile oil change intervals. Your vehicle manufacturer and Castrol both recommend you follow your vehicle owners manual recommendations for oil change intervals. For your 2006 BMW 530xi under the standard service interval you would change your oil and filter every 7,500 miles. For severe service intervals it is recommended to change your oil and filter every 3,000 miles. There is a note for the vehicle indicating that if your vehicle system in monitored to follow the manufacturer's service instructions. There is one other way to know for sure and it's an oil analysis, you would send used oil to a company to analyze and let you know how long the oil may remain in the vehicle. Many fleets use this option, but it can be cost prohibitive to consumers.

I have a 2006 TDI Jetta. I've heard this oil is okay to use. But the book says the oil needs to conform to VW 505 01. Also, do you have 5W-40.

    I just purchased the car.

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

it is a very good oil, and i do recommend that you follow the exact weight for your jetta, using a thicker oil, can cause internal damage. there is no 5 w 40, but 10 w 40 and that is too heavy for your car specs
