Anyone saying that the bearings failed within two weeks (or even a few months) didn't install these properly. You MUST rotate the drum often during the installation with the slide hammer to get the bearings to seat properly. Not doing this will give you problems.

That being said, the only issue with the 6 drums I've installed on my 3 foci have been rust. Have alloy wheels? PAINT THE DRUMS (on the outside of course). They will get surface rust the second you take them out of the box! This is the only reason I've given it 4 stars instead of 5. They are more difficult to install than non-bearing drums because of how FORD designed the rear hubs, but you can't fault the part, the manufacturer, or AAP for something that ford designed into the car.

The drum does its job, does it well, and the bearings don't go bad -if- you install the drums correctly.

Ordered 2 of these drum/bearings. The bearings are pre-pressed. One of the bearings I torqued the wheel nut to spec and the internals broke apart, returned to store and associate tried joking "Don't break it next time." Associate should not make jokes, just sell the product without being sarcastic. They work, nothing special, no extra tools needed besides I used a 29MM Socket, Brake Cleaner, Flathead Screwdriver (Dust cap, tone ring, and for adjusting shoes), a torque wrench, and a breaker bar. This was installed on my 2007 Ford Focus SES 4Door Sedan. For similar installs, if the car is equipped with ABS, DO NOT FORGET to replace/remove the old Tone Ring into these new drums. (Google it if you don't know what a tone ring is).

To answer a few questions. The drum comes with bearings and hub. You need to buy 2 drums, it does not come in pairs. When tightening/torquing the drum, you need to spin the drum so the bearing seats properly.

Comments about Carquest Wearever Brake Drum - Rear:

These do not contain the flange on the back of the bearing that seals the bearing to the spindle like the OEM drums. I returned for NAPA drums that contain this. Without this seal brake dust and water can enter thge bearing.

I believe that they are pre-greased (sealed) bearings.
This is what you need to keep in mind. There are some excitor rings for the ABS system sensors that are pressed into the hub. These look like grease seals but they actually tell the computer that the wheel is moving. Do a search for the excitor rings so taht you can identify them.
These exciter rings will need to be removed and reinserted into the new wheel hub in order for the anit-lock brakes to work. In fact, the car will be quite dangerour to drive without these. Take it from a person who learned the hard way. (at least I didn't hit anything).

Yes they are already greased, you can still ad more bearing grease it doesn't hurt.

Hi Stratsurvivor, without the presence of your vehicle we would not be able to properly diagnose it, nor provide you with a 100% answer. I would suggest that you take your vehicle and get it thoroughly checked by a certified mechanic before buying any parts that may/may not solve the problem.

If your car has ABS, then the drum should have sensor ring that is press fit over the drum's inner housing. It can be removed with either a puller or carefully pride out from the old drum and carefully pressed on the new drum. Hope this helps.

You would have heard if you knew that the bearings are pressed into this particular drum. Much better and preferred to get a drum/bearing combo because most warrantees do not cover drum damage from having the bearing pressed by a third party
