After having issues starting my 2003 F-250, I checked my starter and it was missing 1 of the 2 bolts that hold it in. It was loose and wobbly and looked pretty rough. It was 10 yrs old so I decided, after taking it out to inspect it, to replace it anyway -- it was a cheap repair.

I knew I'd made the right choice as soon as I heard the new one spin that massive 7.3 liter diesel motor. It sounded like it was spinning 2x as fast w/the new one as it had previously been spinning w/the old one. Start-ups are no issue for me anymore. And it has a L/time warranty, so I think I'm set for as long as I own my truck.

Tech tip# 201: Some vehicle equipped with a 6.0L and 7.3L diesel may a hard start or no start. This may be due to a Glow Plug Control Module (GPCM) connector.
Procedure: 1.Make sure battery or batteries are fully charged.
                2. Inspect GPCM connector for:
                -Pin fit. No looseness
                -Pin pull out
                -Bent pins
                -Corrosion
                3. If connectore problems exist, replace the connector with service kit from dealer.
4.If no connectore problems present, proceed with normal diagnosis.
