Carquest Standard Alternator: Remanufactured, 95 Amps, 1 Year Limited Warranty

I should wait a year to rate this alternator since it only has a one year warranty. However, it was relatively easy to install and is working great.

My alternator failed in traffic and I needed it fixed fast. I limped home and ordered one online from Advance, with the understanding that it was an Exact Fit for my 1999 Ford Escort. I picked it up right when the store opened, not checking it because it was an Exact Fit, you know. Finally, after a long, struggling day of getting the alternator out (stripped, seized bolt made it take forever), I opened up the box with my Exact Fit part and found that the bolt holes were 180 degrees out of position. I checked the website again and confirmed that the Exact Fit part was the one I had in my hand. I took it back to the store, where they at first tried to say I made a mistake in my ordering, then the clerk confirmed that in the Advance computer system there were two parts that looked like the wrong one I got that morning and two that looked like old one that I brought with me. All four were listed as exact fits for the same model. To further frustrate me, they didn't have the one I needed, just another wrong one, and the earliest they could get me the right one was two days later. So I got a refund and went to straight to O'Reilly's where I purchased the correct alternator, for 50 dollars more, but at least it actually was an Exact Fit. Maybe don't say something is an exact fit for my car without being 100% sure on that. I'm not usually one to write a snarky review like this, but this incident really made me mad and getting an e-mail from Advance asking me to rate my experience with this part just riled me back up. I did give it two stars because customer service was generally helpful and sympathetic about it.
