Used as a stock replacement for leaking factory radiator also replaced the hoses, water pump, fan clutch, and added a 180 degree thermostat at the same time. I read the previous reviews about poor fitment specifically with the lower transmission cooler line attachment and tried it anyway. Did not have any fit issues; everything went together as it should. I did have to use a utility knife to trim a sliver of plastic off the fill neck to allow my new radiator cap to fit, no problem, took about 10 seconds. I would definitely recommend this part as a good stock replacement

So far, this radiator is not leaking, so it's an improvement from what I had before, in that sense. Otherwise, this is the worst aftermarket part that I have installed in a long time. Every once in a while one might come across something that wasn't quite designed or built to OEM tolerances and it can usually be overcome with minimal frustration, but this radiator was a flat-out joke in that regard. The part shouldn't be represented as 'fitting' a Jeep Cherokee if I have to hack off part of the fan shroud bracket to allow the shrouds to fit, drill my own hole in the bracket to mount the trans cooler line brace, and then spend more time 'modifying' the body of the vehicle so that the lower ATF cooler fitting can allow the radiator to sit down in its mount. As it is, the fitting is resting up against the body, which is not ideal. If the fitting was bent either at more of an angle, or closer to the radiator, it would have been fine.

I'll admit that the bracket trimming is not difficult if the radiator is not in the Jeep, but I had already set it in and started to attach hoses, etc. to it, and didn't want to have to remove it, modify it, and then re-install(why should I have to anyways?!!!?).

Bottom line, I had to put a new radiator in a vehicle with which I was already familiar, so I budgeted a couple of hours, max, to get it done and it ended up taking a lot longer because of this garbage, so plan on at least an extra hour, if you're lucky enough to read the warnings on the wall before you plunk down the cash. I did not, and paid for it with my time.

You tricked me this time ReadyRad, but never again.

The Radiator Cap housing seems to be VERY close to the Air Filter Box. like within a papers width. otherwise its perfect, it doesn't effect it, just thought it should be pointed out.

        Comments about CARQUEST Radiator:

this product was exactly as described - an exact fit. no alterations had to be done in my case. the most difficult part was replacing the oe hose clamps. be sure to have a pair of large channel locks. removing the transmission cooler line wasn't so bad. follow the already mentioned advice of others that posted reviews on this. just remember push then pull for removing and push until you feel or hear a click when reinstalling. both of which were not the fault of the radiator. I broke the head off of corroded bolt. be sure to use penetrant if you think it's more difficult to remove than it should be

        • Q:

Installed this radiator back in July,it has since developed a leak. There's a port above the lower rad hose thats isn't used on my jeep, and I noticed the o- ring is blown out and the source of my leak. My question is, is the o- ring replaceable and if so is there a special tool as there seems to be a hex shaped socket in the plastic plug. Your feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Does it matter which direction the transmission oil flows through the radiator? I.e. Can the hot side be in the top or bottom of the radiator.

          1 answer

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

Yes, Bobby! The top line is the higher pressure line coming from the transmission (hot fluid), and the lower line (cooler oil, lower pressure) goes back to the transmission.

What is "TOC adapters included in kit"? Are these the plugs for a manual transmission? I have looked @ these radiators and for my application I only have the inlet and outlet for hoses. I don't need the other transmission cooler lines.
My other question is which radiator do I need? Either the 432335 or the cu1193? My vehicle is a 1998 Jeep Cherokee, 4.0L 6 cyl. W/ manual 5 speed transmission.

Most after market radiators today have the transmission oil cooler already built in so that the one radiator will fit both vehicles. #432335 should work just fine.

This radiator is the OEM replacement, it is formed to be like the one that comes on the car from the factory. People commonly do not take enough loose for the proper installation and will retrofit to save some time. With proper disassemble the part will fit fine. Hope this helps.
