These brake pads are engineered by an Original Equipment Manufacturer (O.E.M.) that meets IATF 16949 certified framework, an internationally recognized proof of quality in the automotive industry. We use an industry-leading number of friction formulations for maximum performance and extended pad life on each application. Carquest Professional Platinum brake pads also utilize a patented 4-layer HEX shim, now upgraded with aramid fibers, to provide quiet braking and reduce shim wear. These brake pads are also supplied with coated brake hardware and caliper pin grease for nearly every application. Poor experience with these pads
Not sure why these pads have gotten such high reviews. Also, am baffled why they are advertised as "Quiet, Low Dust". The pads I installed had both of those problems from day one!
I don't know, maybe I just got unlucky with a bad pair that was defective. But, from the very first few days after installing them on new Carquest Premium rotors on my 2010 Tacoma AWD, they exhibited noticeable noise and vibrations. And it never stopped, for the past 9 months of use! Specifically when the vehicle is just about to come to a halt while braking. They seemed to work ok in terms of stopping power, which is why I didn't bother replacing them sooner. But the noise and vibration was really bothersome. Also, it did seem like they produced an inordinate amount of dust, based on how quickly my front wheels became dirty with brake dust.
These pads also only lasted about 20K total miles (albeit those were heavy city miles), so I finally had to change them a few days ago. I got Adaptive One pads from Napa, and they have been so incredibly smooth and quiet in comparison! It's like braking with butter, compared to how these Carquest pads performed!
Hope that Carquest figures out what's wrong with these pads, or puts out fewer defective units.

Replaced brakes on my truck. I bought it used so I'm not sure if they were OEM or not, but these were much quieter and stop great.
Easy to install, just dropped right into the caliper and bolted it all back together.
