Carquest Premium Alternator: Remanufactured, 150 Amps, Limited Lifetime Warranty

Thank goodness the people at Advance Auto Parts are patient and can translate for me, because I don't know much and the names of this or that as far as car engine parts go, however I do have a good understanding of how engines work and how each piece functions to make a whole.

The alternator was packaged nicely and had all the test information that identified it as having passed rigorous testing. I installed the alternator on a 2012 Ford Edge. It was a difficult installation but it was completed and the car ran fine for 15 miles. The "check charging system" light came back on. Whenever the car was cold, the alternator would work properly for about 10 to 15 miles. The battery was fine but there was no power from the alternator whenever the light came on. I double checked everything and finally brought it to the dealership. They said that while they ran there diagnostics, the alternator was working. I brought it back with the light on and they confirmed that there was nothing coming from the alternator. The dealership siad they had an Escape that had had 2 aftermarket alternators put on and they had the same problem. It was solved with a Motorcraft alternator installed. I had to do the same and it is now running fine. I returned the aftermarket for a full refund. Either the aftermarket alternator is not desinged properly for the Ford Edge (SEL 3.5L) or the product is just poor. In either case, the alternator didn't work.
