It's transmission fluid. It's red and smells fresh. Without a lab it's hard to know the properties of this fluid versus name brand fluids.

The discounts at AA make this mercon V a smokin deal. I've used the big name high dollar ATF and found zero difference between the two for my passenger vehicles.

My 2001 Sport Trac says to use "Mercon V" right on the tranny dip stick handle. Make sure you use "Mercon V" if that is what your car calls for. Don't use "Mercon I or II or III" also don't use "Mercon L or M". Only use if the bottle says "Mercon V" on it, if that is what you need.

                    A:

Hi Adnan, happy to assist you! You will need 6.9 quarts of automatic transmission fluid for your 2011 Toyota Corolla 1.6L. However, I would always recommend following the guidelines of the original engine manufacturer for the recommended fluid for use in your specific application. This information can be found in the vehicles owner's manual or by contacting the manufacturer directly.

Hi I have a 1996 Ford F-150 Extended Cab, Eddie Bauer, 5.8l Engine, with the E40D Transmission, 109,000 miles. How many quarts would I need to fill my transmission if completely drained, and would this be a good choice (product-wise) for the job?
Asked on 11/2/2014 by LilAL from Pueblo West

                  • CUSTOMER CARE

                    A:

I'm glad to assist, LilAL! Your 1996 Ford F-150 Extended Cab, Eddie Bauer with the 5.8L V8 and E4OD transmission requires between 15.7-16.4 qts of ATF for a dry fill. For a typical drain and fill the transmission requires approximately 6.5 qts. Ford recommends the use of Mercon V in this transmission. This would be a great choice for your vehicle.

There is No traditional dipstick. It has to be pumped into the Trans from below; and you need a special fitting to do so. And you will need a pump. Only attempt to do it yourself if you are a Real "Hands on" person. I found the fitting on Ebay if you so choose. God Speed!
