Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

2004 Limited Explorer V8. I found this part to be comparable to OEM part. I had to use the C Ring on old axle to make new part work. The OEM C Ring is about half the size of the replacement. After removing old axle I used a small flat head to remove the C Ring that firmly seats the inner axle shaft into the differential. I'd recommend this part to other Explorer owners. Just use your head a little bit. 194k and climbing.

Does not fit 04 explorer xlt 4x4. Secure ring on diff. End of axle seems very loose and too big compared to original axle.

32mm for mine. You can rent from Advance for around 20 bucks. Some models
were 34mm though. The rear was 36mm.

Is anything else needed to install this? Does in included everything needed other than the tools to completely replace?

No other parts needed. However is really frustrating getting the inner snap ring to release in order to pull it out. You will swear it's never coming loose. Be patient and you will eventually get there like I did.

That's all you need as long as other parts required to take off to install are not broke or damaged

blockquote, div.yahoo_quoted { margin-left: 0 !important; border-left:1px #715FFA solid !important; padding-left:1ex !important; background-color:white !important; } Everything needed was included, I had a friend that's a mechanic install it in my driveway. He didn't mention needing anything extra. It didn't take him very long either. Less than an hour if I remember correctly

Really simple to install once you pull it apart. No special tools just be
patient when pushing it in if the cir clip is not pushing in
