Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

Taking it out of the box, I thought it wouldn't fit. It was much longer than the original. However, this shaft uses a tripod CV joints which compress on both the inner and outer, while the OE uses a Rzeppa joint on the outboard end. It's a really tight fit getting it in with the wheel bearing hub removed; would probably be easier if you remove the lower ball joint. Have driven a couple thousand miles with no problem. Would be great if Advance Auto would sell the differential axle seal. That's a dealer-only item, and cost more than this axle.

    • Q:

I purchased (2) of these for my 2003 Aztek
I compared the length to the existing ,and they appear to be the same length
I have replaced (1) so far, it went into the rear differential fine but it was a tight fit when I put the wheel bearing on,and after I was able to get the wheel bearing on,and the wheel/tire,it seems too long, like when it bends at the joints,it doesn't have enough "flex". when I spin the wheel, the differential MOVES up & down due to this.Do I have the right one?Is there a "trick" to install to make sure its right?
I don't want to install the other side until I get this worked out.
      Thank you
