It does not come with the foam. If you are installing in the dodge ram it's a tight squeeze but the heater core tubes can bend a little to help.

with reference to this Ready-Aire Heater Core - part# 398313, replacing the heater core on your Dodge Ram 1500 depends on the skill level of whoever is removing or replacing the part. Some may have a harder time than others who have experience. I would recommend purchasing a Haynes repair manual specifically for your vehicle. This should be able to assist you further into detail on how to repair or replace specific parts. For any further assistance, you may also visit your nearest Advance Auto store or call us directly at 1-877-ADVANCE (238-2623) and one of our representatives there would be more than happy to assist you.

I installed one of these heater cores. I was shocked that the tubes had to rotate to make it fit. Do they need soldered once in place? Anyway I got it installed. It took a lot of labor. Well I am getting a antifreeze smell in the cab when it starts to heat up. I can find no evidence of a leak. I redid the heater hoses and replaced the radiator cap. I still get the smell. Do you have any ideas? I think the heater core I put in was bad. How do I know without ripping it out? I question the integrity of the rotating tubes.

If your old heter core was leaking there will be residue in the heater core housing. might have to dry out with towel/rags or may dry out after using for a while.

I need to replace the heater core on a 99 dodge 1500 truck. The thing is that it has an air bag on the passenger side, am I going to have a problem because of that or is there a way to bypass that. I really don't want to have to take it to a dealer or mechanic to fix this.

Although I do not know the "correct" answer, the reality is that the core does not care if the fluid flows from left to right or right to left. Once the core is installed, the hoses from the firewall into the engine will show you which goes where.
