Needed some modifications

Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

Brand new parts, appears to be good quality. And outer CV joint was a bit tight. But had to make a couple changes. The seal surface had almost a square corner on it. I was afraid it might catch the seal lip at insertion. It is hard to get the shaft to insert slowly, so I hand ground about a 30 degree chamfer by about 3/4 mm deep. There is plenty of room for the seal even with the chamfer.
The other problem was the outer boot being too short or the space allotted was too long so the boot caved in when installed from being stretched. So I was able to unfold and loosen the metal strap seal and slide the small diameter portion over. Then it was obvious why. There was an area in the shaft made for the seal. It was not in the correct position. Had to move the seal over about 1". However the seal still sealed on the shaft after retightening and folding over the strap using pliers. And the boot now appears as it should. Not as tight as before but OK.

Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

Cheap price, but quality is questionable. Boots are very soft and feel like they can easily be torn. Locking nut is 30MM, not the stock 36MM so be sure you have a few axle nut sockets. Works good, does the job.

Comments about CARQUEST CV Shafts New CV Axle Shaft Assembly:

Overall this driveshaft is good quality. The only issue I had was with the nut. Although the thread size is the same as the original diveshaft, the nut is much smaller, does not have a flange, and the locking element is too strong to get correct torque rating.
Get an OEM nut if you can.
