I bought this because of price and it was available now as my old belt decided to disintegrate. When I put it on and got the vehicle running it made chirping noise kind of similar to a pulley bearing going out. Since the belt had come apart I thought the main tension pulley might have gone so I replaced it. Now the squealing went very load and high pitched. After thinking about it I decided I should have tried my older belts that I keep after changing them for emergencies. A soon as I put on the old gates belt not a peep. I took the old belt back. Afterward I learned that beeswax might have quieted it down. I learned to go with the belt that has the solid reputation.

Comments about CARQUEST by Dayco Poly Rib Belt, Premium:

I bought this belt because the one on my truck looked a little worn. After removing the old one, I found that it was worn more than I thought. The new belt went on very easily and the irregular noise that always seemed to always come from my alternator, went away. Good belt. My 1995 Chevy engine runs quiet and smooth. Money well-spent.

Not happy with belt, I performed a simple belt swap, old belt (Goodyear gator back) was showing its age, could not source a new only locally. Dayco is a excellent brand in the snowmobile world for their belts so I figured why not, absolutely the loudest squealing belt I have ever owned, recommend do not buy

Comments about CARQUEST by Dayco Poly Rib Belt, Premium:

Design of the "ribs" made installation extremely difficult. When I finally was able to get it on the vehicle, it wouldn't set into the grooves properly without touching the auto tensioner housing. Had to turn the motor over a couple turns to get it to seat in the grooves properly where it came away from the tensioner housing and allowed the tensioner to function properly. -- Will have to see how long it lasts.

Comments about CARQUEST by Dayco Poly Rib Belt, Premium:

Several reviews complained about belt noise. The Website places this belt first in the listing. For the Chevy 8.1 liter the OEM belt is 2410 mm. This belt is 2425.7 mm. The extra 15.7 mm reduces the tension on the belt leading to slippage / squealing. For most of the 8.1 engines, use #5060950 it is 2415mm

For help with your project, I recommend purchasing a repair manual specifically for your vehicle. This should be able to assist you further into detail on how to repair or replace specific parts.
