As I have stated in other reviews I'm more of a Gates fan. Normally the Dayco belts have more of a "plastic" and "shiny" look and feel. Hard to tell on 6-rib belts if belts if they are near breaking as they don't crack but get more of a "worn glaze". On the DriveWorks or Gates type belts, the material is "softer" and after 30-50K pending vehicle you can se obvious cracks and they should be replaced, and I'm OK with that. These belts with fewer ribs look nice in the softer rubber regard.

Nothing wrong with the belt, it's just a replacement lol. But I got it for my Subaru and it was a pain to install, but that's Subarus problem, not whoever makes this belt.

This was a replacement for the original factory alternator belt that was slipping when it was under heavy electrical load causing low electrical output which means a weak battery.

No, 1997-2001 crv have 4 different belts one for alternator to crank pulley, one to ac compressor to crank pulley one to power steering to crank pulley and last one is timing belt that goes to camshaft gears to crank shaft gear. Hope this helps

What is the procedure for replacing the alternator belt on a 1994 ford aspire?

                        A:

Hi Ryan, good question! please follow these steps to replace the alternator belt. Pop the hood. Locate the bolts holding the alternator to the engine block. Loosen the bolts, using an open-end wrench and the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Use your hand to push the alternator towards the center of the engine bay until the belt gets loose. Pull the belt off the alternator pulley, then pull it off the central pulley and away from the vehicle. Install the replacement belt on the central pulley and the alternator pulley. Pull the alternator away from the center of the engine and tighten the alternator mounting bolts, using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket and an open-end wrench. Push down in the center of the belt between the alternator pulley and the central pulley. If the belt deflects more than 1/2-inch, then pull loosen the mounting bolts again and pull the alternator further away from the center point to tighten the belt up further.

With reference to your inquiry on the Dayco Poly Rib Poly-Rib® Belt - part# 5040333, the alternator belt on the 2001 Honda CRV also controls the air conditioner compressor. The belt is driven around both of the accessory pulleys by the crankshaft pulley, powering both accessories. Open the hood on the 2001 Honda CRV and locate the alternator on the left-hand side of the engine. The alternator has a top mounting bolt on the top of the alternator and an adjustment bracket on the bottom of the alternator. Loosen the top mounting bolt with the ratchet, extension and a socket. Turn the bolt counterclockwise to loosen it. Loosen the lock nut in the middle of the adjustment bracket below the alternator with the ratchet, extension and a socket. Locate the adjustment bolt at the end of the adjustment bracket. Turn the adjustment bolt counterclockwise with the ratchet, extension and socket until the belt is loose enough to pull out of the alternator pulley, crankshaft pulley and the air conditioner pump pulley. Then, remove the belt from all three pulleys and pull the belt out of the engine area. Place the old alternator belt beside the new alternator belt and make sure that they match. Then, route the new alternator belt inside of all three accessory pulleys. Turn the adjustment bolt clockwise to tighten the belt. Once the belt becomes tight, check the tension of the belt with your hand. Push inward on the belt between the alternator and the crankshaft. If the belt has more than a half-inch of free play, continue to tighten the adjustment bolt until there is no more than a half-inch of free play in the belt. Tighten the top mounting bolt and the lock nut with the ratchet, extension and socket. Then, inspect the new alternator belt to make sure that it is properly seated inside of all three accessory pulleys. Crank the 2001 Honda CRV and watch the new alternator belt as it turns around the three pulleys, just to make sure that it stays seated while the motor is running. Let the motor run for about 10 to 20 seconds. Then, turn the engine off and close the hood.
