Very Good OEM Replacement Part

I replaced by OEM Idler Pulley with this part because of abnormal noise at idle. This is a very good part at a competitive price. Thanks Dayco

This part will not fit a 1999 Saturn SL (1.9L SOHC) with NO power steering. These cars with power steering has a slightly altered belt routing, which calls for this pulley. So be aware of what you are ordering. For no power steering, the 5-grooved pulley is required. However, the part is a quality and durable product.

Comments about CARQUEST by Dayco Idler Pulley:

Even though this pulley is the hardest one to get off, I was able to use a 6 point box wrench to reach the nut and loosen it with my fingers, the old pully came right off and the new one went right on but I had trouble getting the bolt back on with the limited space soooooooooooo, I jacked up the car and then got a jack and piece of wood and put it under the oil pan and lifted it like an 1/8 of an inch to hold the motor in place, I got a socket wrench and popped off the 5 upper motor mount bolts and took the mount off ..and underneith the mount is a space to get your fingers and a socket wrench in there to retighten the pulley bolt. Just snug it up, dont tighten it with brute force as it is aluminum.. Bam it was on. popped on the motor mount and tightened the bolts and lowered the one jack under the oil pan, then I popped on the serpentine belt and in 5 minutes the plastic water shields and tire was back on and baby was purring again with no loud growl coming from the dry worn out pulley with 160,000 miles on it.. SIMPLE TO DO!! SAVE the labor charge for something difficult!

check these when you replace your belt. A slight grinding noise in the pulley bearing is a sign to replace. Comparable to OEM in quality, identical in fitment.

This will depend on the skill level of whoever is removing or replacing the part. Some may have a harder time than others who have experience with this type of project.

Possibly. Unfortunately we are unable to diagnose what is wrong with your vehicle without being able to be there with your vehicle. We highly recommend taking your vehicle to a reputable shop to have them take a look at it to determine the cause.
