this is real steel, not plastic aftermarket junk. very easy to install, strong, runs quite, looks great. you may wanna go ahead and replace both pulleys when you have to replace one, i wound up haveing to pull belt twice. which requires a ladder on my truck. this is the heavy duty idler pulley, it cost a little more but it is not plastic,, and with the torque my motor has prefer real steel..

Doesn't suck, it's still working. Had two previous Dayco pulleys that would chirp in month 12 on the nose, 2 years in a row.

My idler pulley was starting to make the sqweek- 87000 miles. This pulley looks well built and no longer hear that old engine noise. At least not that one. Fit good.

      A:

I'm happy to help, Reed13! Remove the tension on the tension pulley with a 15mm socket or wrench by turning counter clockwise, take the belt off, remove the idler pulley with a T50 Torx bit, turning counter clockwise, replace with new pulley, use factory bolt, align the belt on all pulleys verifying that everything is correct.

      A:

Hi Pops, glad to help! Sorry, without the presence of your vehicle we would not be able to properly diagnose it nor provide you with a 100% answer. I would recommend purchasing a Chilton or Haynes Repair Manual for your vehicle, not only will it explain how to replace an idler pulley, but you'll find it handy for many more projects on your vehicle.

  • Q:

    2000 Ford Taurus 3.0L U
Just installed the Dayco No Slack Idler/Tensioner Pulley.

The original Ford idler pulley has a diameter of about 91mm. The Dayco part has a reported diameter of 76mm. Though the Dayco part is listed as an exact fit for a 2000 Ford Taurus, it does not match the original Ford part specs. However, this part does fit.

  • Q:

The Belt burned right off on my 2002 Ford Taurus and I was told I needed a new AC Compressor, would I also need to buy a new pulley? For that might be the reason for the belt burning off?

      A:

Generally, new a/c compressors come with pulley. If it does not, it is always better to replace compressor with new pulley.
