Seems to have solved my problem

I was losing low beams at unexpected times. Did research on why they were going out. This part was cheapest fix hoping it would solve the problem, and so far its the fix.

I have had to replace this product twice. Both times when it failed it would leave the headlights stuck on. The second failure appeared to be intermittent. I went into the garage to get something and the headlights were on, before I could pull the relay they were back off like they should be. Went back out to the garage today and they were on again. The car wasn't even touched in the past 24 hours. Highly recommend against using this to replace a solid state fan relay!

Bought this for my 2006 Trailblazer to replace a defective GM OEM part. GM has a problem with headlight relays they can't seem to solve. This part does.

After some online research for possible cause of why my low beams were not working, but the high beams were fine, everything pointed to this Headlamp Relay. A quick part search found the best price at Advance Auto Part and it was in stock at my local store.

I have a 2004 GMC Envoy, my headlights sometimes shut off during driving. I've changed out the headlight switch and checked the wiring harness for the headlights, everything is tight. Could it be my headlight relay in the fuse box under the hood?

Yes, Steve, the headlight could possibly the problem. However, without the presence of your vehicle we would not be able to properly diagnose it, nor provide you with a 100% answer. I would suggest that you take your vehicle and get it thoroughly checked by a certified mechanic before buying any parts that may/may not solve the problem.

      • Q:

It appears that faulty headlamp relays is common in Trailblazers. I'm being advised to ensure the replacement relay is solid state vs. standard due to amperage concerns. Is this relay a solid state relay per OEM equipment?

Hi Jim! Since you didn't mention the specific vehicle, it's hard to tell for sure. To give you the correct information I would need the year, make, model and engine size of the vehicle.

      • Q:

HOW DO YOU CHECK IF R6100 RELAY IS GOOD OR BAD?
Asked on 10/29/2014 by LEO from TAMPA,FL

        1 answer

        • CUSTOMER CARE

          A:

Hi Leo, happy to help you! Here is the steps to test the relay: Remove the relay from any contact with circuitry. Most larger relays are socketed and may easily be removed. Test the de-energized condition of the relay contacts. Use a digital multimeter (DMM) to test the resistance between each pole of the relay and the corresponding NC and NO contacts for that pole. All NC contacts should read 0 ohms to the corresponding pole. All NO contacts should read infinite resistance to the corresponding pole. Energize the relay. Use in independent voltage source appropriate for the rating of the relay coil. If the relay coil is diode protected, make sure that the independent voltage source is connected with the proper polarity. Listen for a click when the relay is energized. Check the energized condition of the relay contacts. Use a digital multimeter (DMM) to test the resistance between each pole of the relay and the corresponding NC and NO contacts for that pole. All NC contacts should read infinite resistance to the corresponding pole. All NO contacts should read 0 ohms to the corresponding pole.
