    Comments about BWD Relay:

Part was exactly what I needed & the online deal was great. Was a plug & play part, meaning it was exactly like OEM. As soon as the old one was out & the new was in, my problem was solved. Ordered online & picked up in store, part was ready when I arrived & staff was very helpful! Great part, great deal, great service!!

      Comments about BWD Relay:

This relay fit my 2002 GMC Envoy, whose starter relay was bad. It would fail to start sometimes.
I did troubleshooting by following a youtube video about Trailblazer/Envoy non-cranking. It is called "Chevy Trailblazer no crank testing and information".
Another site called BWD Brand dot com has a nice cross-reference for these relays.

        Comments about BWD Relay:

According to the picture the relay is correct, however according to the store the part # is for a fuel pump relay. In taking out the original relay the relay schematic is identical but it will not work since the pin setup is not the same. The store says that the starter relay is a different part # and also $47.99

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

Hi Rodog55! As in any electrical system an open or short circuit can occur interrupting the operation of one or all of the brake lamps. Lack of power to the brake lights can include: Burned out brake light bulb, Blown brake light fuse, Broken wire in the harness, Poor connection at the bulb socket, Body control module (BCM) shorted, Brake light switch not working, and Turn signal or multi function switch failure. However, I would suggest that you take your vehicle and get it thoroughly checked by a certified mechanic before buying any parts that may/may not solve the problem.

what exactly does a starter relay do?
Asked on 8/24/2016 by linda from lake placid fl

          1 answer

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

Hi Linda, happy to help you! A starter relay, or starter solenoid, works by completing the circuit that brings electric current from a vehicle's battery to the starter motor of the engine. The starter relay can typically be located by following the red wire from the battery to the relay. All solenoids are simple electromagnets consisting of a coil and a spring-loaded iron armature. When a current passes through the coil of a solenoid, the armature moves to increase the flux. When the current is switched off, the armature contracts. In a starter solenoid, when a key is turned in the car ignition, the movement of the armature closes the pair of heavy contacts that serve as the bridge between the battery and the starter motor. To ensure the starter relay functions properly, it must receive sufficient power from the battery. Insufficiently charged batteries, corroded connections and damaged battery cables can all prevent the starter relay from receiving enough power to operate correctly. When this happens, an audible clicking noise is typically heard when the ignition key is turned. Because it contains moving parts, the starter relay itself can also fail over time. If it fails, the ignition makes no sound when the ignition key is turned.
