I bought two of these and they both gave incorrect readings for my 97 wrangler and eventually stopped working all together. Might work on newer models as this is one of the things they changed. When it comes to this sensor for an old tj, dish out the extra bones and get a high quality one.

Easy to install but impossible to see. ADVANCE DOES NOT SELL THE PROPER TOOL TO INSTALL. Not a hard job. Done in about 20 minutes. Getting the wiring apart was the hardest part. Wish I had done it sooner! Auto shop wanted 200 for this 40 dollar job (including the new tool).

Comments about BWD Oil Pressure Gauge Switch:

5 different oil switches were listed in stock for my 96 cherokee. The first time I was sold the non-gauge variety which not display the actual pressure. The salesman was clueless as to why it was shorter than the original, which I discovered after installing it and doing a web search when the problem arose. it took two more tries to actually get the correct switch, but at least the gauge works now.

Not enough description on product to keep me from ordering wrong part. My swith has only one electrical lead. The one I got had two. My fault did'nt look first. But when it said it "fits my make and model", I ASSUMED it was the correct part. It wasn't.

                  • Q:

What size is threaded inlet? Since there are 2 terminals can I splice a relay into one wire for low oil pressure to shut down engine? Better descriptions and more specs would be of great help for rodders and old schoolers.

Glad to assist you! The inlet of this BWD Oil Pressure Gauge Switch - Part No. S4174P has 1/8"-inch x 27 NPTF thread. Since, this is a variable resistor, you no need to splice.

if it's a 5.2 it will be beside the distributor, if you have a 4.0 it will be by the filter

You can't make a blanket statement that it's "by the filter".
It is a pain to get to on the 5.2L V8. On that engine, it is on the passenger side next to the distributer.
