My 96 Civic EX with 200k miles died while driving it a few days ago. I tried to crank it and it would turn over but wouldn't connect/start the engine. I first replaced the fuel filter and that wasnt the problem. It was getting fuel so it had to be something to do with the spark. After trying somethings from the repair manual everything checked out ok. I noticed when looking at the coil casing inside the distributor there was some blue marks on it like it had been hot. I brought this part and she fired right up!!! Made my day. If you google problems with Civics not starting they will lead you to this probably being the reason. 10 minute easy fix.

Check out the blue hot mark on my attached photo

        Comments about BWD Ignition Coil:

The coil died on my trusty '98 CRV and I needed a reasonably-priced, reliable replacement in a hurry. I was happy to see this unit was made in Taiwan(not China) since I've come to learn that Harley Davidson, among others, has their replacement parts made there. Since they're an ally of the US we've shared our production technology with them so "Made in Taiwan" is no longer a bad thing. Anyway, there's not much involved in replacing a coil and this one was no different as I finished the job in under 15 minutes.

Purchased coil on-line and picked it up from the store hours later. The coil was a direct replacement for the original and performs great in my 2000 Honda Civic.

            Comments about BWD Ignition Coil:

Perfect fit for my 2000 Honda Civic CX with the TEC Distributor. Will not fit the Hitachi Dist. Old coil failed- A sudden no spark to start. Was covered in white powdery corrosion from arcing. Caused cap and rotor to burn out. Replaced those as along with new plugs and wires. Car runs great. Seems like a solid, well built coil. 5 star rating so far. The original lasted 12 years. Looks like the original. Easy to install. Have purchased other parts by BWD. They seem solid as well.

This could possibly be the problem. However, without the presence of your vehicle we would not be able to properly diagnose it nor provide you with a 100% answer. We would suggest that you take your vehicle to a certified mechanic for further diagnosis.

While driving down the road, all power in the car shuts off. We have to pull over restart the car and proceed again. Will this part cause the car to shut off. We have checked the battery and charging system and it is fine.
