My check engine light came on and my truck began to sputter and buck back and forth. i limped my truck to advance and one of the associates plugged in the diagnostic machine computer. it indicated a cylinder 7 misfire, so i purchased the BWD ignition coil in lieu of the motorcraft ignition coil. after installation, the truck ran smooth as ever.

Fixed my problem

This coil repaired my vehicle but the base size was thicker than the original. I wish the customer service rep would have known or told me before taking this product home

      Comments about BWD Ignition Coil:

Perfect fit for my 2003 Crown Vic P71. Looks like OEM but doesn't have the Ford part number. Easy install on most cylinders. I replaced coil on cylinder #5, it was a 10 minute job. Other cylinders may take longer depending on location. Use dielectric grease on tip and connection to keep water out. Only tool required was a 7mm socket, 4 in extention and 1/4 drive ratchet. Excellent product I have replaced 4 of these on different cylinders over the last 2 years on my Vic which has 180,000 plus miles. This is expected with the age and mileage. Don't be discouraged just do it yourself when you have the code read at ADVANCE and it gives you the cylinder number.

Only took 3 hours to install these 8 coil packs on my '03 Expedition. Check engine light is gone and its running as smooth as the day I bought it. Hopefully they last as long as the original, 178,000 miles.

Hi Rooster, I'm glad to help you! You can scan for codes and see which cylinder sets a misfire code-P030X or P035X ignition primary code using a generic scan tool. We do offer the scan tool kit #CP9190, which is compatible with all 1996 and newer OBD II compliant vehicles as well as certain pre-1996 GM, Ford and Chrysler vehicles.

The store parts guy should know to keep the boxes that the new replacement coils come in, that way you don't have to keep up with the box and they get a new box to return the part in.

                1 answer

                • CUSTOMER CARE

                  A:

An ignition coil that is completely dead will prevent the engine from starting or will stop the engine if the car is running at the time of failure. This is because no current will reach the spark plugs. An ignition coil that is failing will still provide current to the plugs, but it might not be enough for a full spark and the car will run sluggishly. If the current being provided by the coil isn't consistent, the car will run rough.
