Kind of pointless to review an electrical item just a week after installing it. Time will tell the tale of whether or not this was worth it.

For now, the P0301 code & surging/bucking is gone in a '00 Taurus 3.0 Duratec. Replaced the spark plug too while I was in there.

Was able to get the #1 (rear bank, passenger side) coil and plug out without yanking the upper intake manifold, which was nice.

The part worked, but one week in is no show of quality. I'll add stars in a few years, if possible.

                    • Q:

I own a Ford Escape 2008 XLT cylinder, I have been having an issue with my ignition such as when I turn the Key I must slam it into to slot press the key downward while i am putting the key in to the ignition in order for the car to start.I just can not put my key in the ignition and turn the key like normal. My battery is good and so is my starter. So my question is__Can I take my truck to Advanced Auto and have them run a diag. test to pin point what exactly is the issue such as the coil fuse, or a different part.
Since I am a female, I do not want salesperson taking advantage of that and I purchase parts that are not needed. My sons best friend said he would help me, on Wednesday, the day I am off,(he is awesome with cars and is in school to be a mechanic) I am just trying to be proactive with the diag. and purchasing the right part.I just need to know where to start.
any advise for me would be greatly appreciated, Patty

Hi Patty, happy to help! It seems you are having ignition issues due to stuck pins/springs inside the ignition lock cylinder. Diagnostic scan tools are available at most of our stores, however I would recommend that you call your nearest store and check for service availability. Just below the part name in the part page, you will see the option - "Check availability". Once you enter your zip code, the nearest store and contact details will be available for you to proceed.

Good question, Shorty! It depends upon the skill level of the person performing the operation. For help with your project, I recommend purchasing a Haynes repair manual specifically for your vehicle.
