Original Motorcraft IAC gummed up at 92000 miles. Rpms would shoot up to 3000 when clutch was pushed. Replaced with this brand due to price. My biggest dislike is that it changed my rpm speed at certain points. For instance, when I push the clutch in and hold it while coasting, the rpms will only go down to about 1500 instead of 600 when the motorcraft iac was installed. This also applies when downshifting when pulling up to a red light. Sometimes it causes the truck to try to push me and I have to clutch earlier than I did before.

Very easy install, two bolts and one plug, on top of engine. New part was slightly wider than original, but fit. Only issue was the engine idle was slightly higher after replacement.

              A:

If your car idle rough or the speed cycle up and down. You probably have a bad idle air control valve. The only purpose of the idle air control valve is to keep the engine’s idle smooth. The engine’s computer gives the idle air control valve the feedback it needs to hold a constant rpm. The idle will be around 1000 rpm’s when not in gear and around 800 rpm’s in gear. I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.

I had the opposite problem; idled so low it stalled. The advance part immediately raised the idle to 3400 (!) and nothing would bring it back down. I want through the 'drive it around and it will learn' stuff which was exciting. I eventually re-installed the original part which wasn't so bad after all , and returned the part to Advance who refunded my money. Brought the proper part from Ford today for $119. It works perfectly. The part swap is very easy, just an 8MM socket and a gasket scrapper. Check your new part for how the electricial plug disconnects, mine in a push in the lock with a screwdriver tip while removing the plug type. Just save your old part in case you have to reuse it. I see this RPM problem noted in 2 of 4 reviews. Good luck.
