My truck started up fine in the mornings, but after it warmed up or had been sitting in the heat all day, it would have to crank a few seconds or even had to give it some gas to fire up. Replace numerous parts before I got to this one. Took less than 10 mins to install and wah-la, PROBLEM SOLVED. I suggest if you have similar problems to start with this. If you pull the vacuum hose off and it leaks any fuel at all, then it's no good and needs to be replaced. Hope this helps.

Bought this as restoring 2003 Impala with over 160,000 miles with all original equipment. It does work and was fairly easy to install but would not hold fuel pressure after vehicle shut down and fuel would bleed down. My specs call for 50 to lbs of pressure while running and to hold at 40 lbs in a static hold after engine shut down. pressure bleed out after 10 minutes and then had hard time starting up again till line built up pressure again. Very annoying. Went to original AC/Delco and problems were solved. Held static pressure above 40 lbs for several days and was easy to start. I will go for AC Delco for all original parts needs even if I have to pay more. Even sparkplugs went for AC/Delco as other brand did not last long. For GM recommend AC/Delco for all.

Comments about BWD Fuel Pressure Regulator:

before i purchased this part everyday my tahoe would start fine first time in the morning, for the rest of the
day i would have to crank engine 20 seconds before it would try to start. i assumed it was a bad fuel pump.
today after installing the bwd fuel pressure regulator, my tahoe starts in the first 3 seconds of cranking
and putting a lot less drain on my battery, and less wear on my starter, and now i have no need to replace
the fuel pump which i was going to do when i saved up some more money.

Comments about BWD Fuel Pressure Regulator:

Has all the parts, washer, screen, clip....easy to replace. My old one leaked fuel into the vacuum line, misfiring all my cylinders. This install immediately removed the check warning light, and it hasn't gone on again. Plus the engine runs smooth without the misfire. What an easy fix, but it did take a long time to find the problem. 2003 Chevy Silverado. 5.3 V8 engine. Also the part was in stock at the store, I ordered online at night and the part was ready soon after the store opened.

Comments about BWD Fuel Pressure Regulator:

Great product at a great price. Easy to install, just make sure you have the right tools. You will need a snap ring tool for sure on a 01 Buick Regal. There is not enough clearance for needle nose pliers or anything else. Be careful to bleed the pressure first as well, or you will have a geyser of gasoline shooting up at your face like I did.

Hummed a little bit after installation, but has quieted down since then. Starting strong 6 months later.

Wasn't sure if I needed the brass clip….the old one didn't have it so I didn't use it.. once I figured out which way the silver bracket faced, the regulator installed in one click. I'm sure it would have cost $250 to get installed.

Hi Beto, glad to help you! The fuel pressure regulator should be located in the fuel pump assembly in the gas tank, in your trunk under the mat. For help with your project, I recommend purchasing a Haynes or Chilton repair manual specifically for your vehicle. This should be able to assist you further into detail on how to repair or replace specific parts.

                      A:

Hi, good question! The fuel pressure regulator on your GMC Sierra woud be mounted in the center of the fuel bar on the driver's side of the engine. Some of the signs of bad fuel pressure regulator are: Degraded spark plugs, cold start stalling, black smoke, decreased mileage, smelling fuel in the oil system. However, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not solve or be the problem.
