Q:i know this sounds stupid but what does it do
A:EVERY fuel injected car has a fuel pressure regulator. It's there because fuel injected cars work by opening valves (fuel injectors) for certain amounts of time to deliver a specific amount of fuel. The time means nothing if the fuel pressure isn't known, so you have a regulator that keeps the pressure at 3 bars (for BMW's). Some kits raise the fuel pressure to get a bit more out of your stock injectors; I believe the raise the pressure to 3.5 bars.
