I have a 6cylinder Jeep Grand Cheerokee Laredo. My display keeps flashing "coolant sensor bad." Should I get this part? Or should I get the male side?

First take the coolant level sensor out, unplug it and test it. Put an ohm meter across it and when you push up on the float side, it should read around 3.3K ohms-or close. Then let the float drop and you should get closed condition (near to 0 ohms). Now put the ohm meter on the connector from the Jeep. First connect it to the black wire terminal. And put the other side of the ohm meter to a good ground. Should be close to 0 ohm. Put the sensor back together and plug it in. Give a spray of contact cleaner. Under the drivers dash, there should be a plastic cover near the ODB-II connector, take it off. There is a orange and white connector - fairly large. Pull it out and find the pink with black stripe wire. Measure resistance between it and a good ground. It should be around 3.3K ohm (condition- enough coolant should be in reserve tank). Spray with contact cleaner and put back together if all is good. Fix any of the above if faulty, fix the wiring or the sensor. If all things are okay, then remove and unplug the VIC (Vehicle information center) from the dash (as coolant level sensor is directly wired to the VIC and it is the only thing that uses it.), Open it up, get the circuit board out, look on the back, at the solder joints, it might be faulty solder joints which may be cracked at the connector pin. On the connector-look for pink with black stripe wire to match the pin on the circuit board for coolant level sensor (in this case). Use a soldering iron and re-flow with a little new solder, check near-by joints also, repair as necessary.

I have a 1993 Jeep Cherokee 2WD 4.0L I-6cyl. with A/C. This says it's an exact fit, but where is it located on my vehicle?

The coolant level sensor should be located  on the coolant fluid tank in the engine room behind the battery.
