      A:

Hi Bob! Glad I could be of help. This switch has only the two connections; Power in & Power Out. Since it is not polarity sensitive, either terminal is ok. The speed control is accomplished by the resistor between the terminals. With the knob pushed in fully, there is no connection; the first stop out is full continuity (full speed), the second stop has approximately 3 ohms resistance which is low speed.
