BRExhaust Direct-Fit Premium Resonator Assembly

I bought this for my 03 Forester X. There was a small hole on my resonator pipe, so I bought this to replace it. Well, it works good. Its shape is bit different from OE, but at least, it fits perfect. Since OE part was like $250, I think this is a good alternative, although this one's quality doesn't look as good as OE.

Replacing OEM. This is the second time the back resonator has rusted out or come apart at the welds. The back flange had also rusted off long ago, see below for how I fixed. The picture on the website looks just like OEM but what I received is not like the picture. The upstream resonator is identical to the rear resonator which was disappointing. Bosal part seems to be better quality than Walker (I have both parts side by side) but not sure if warrants the price difference. Bends are smooth (mandrel) vs. the wrinkled style of the Walker. Bosal flares the tube at the Cat. end - better chance of sealing. The flange is just loose and butts up against the flared tube when tightened. This allows the entire pipe to be rotated so the welded flange at the muffler end can be aligned easily. Walker and OEM have fixed welded flanges at both ends so orientation before they are welded at the factory is critical. The problem with the part I received is the muffler flange was not flat. It had a small valley in one area and the hard flat o-ring style gasket would not seal. Make sure the muffler flange and the mating flange on the resonater pipe are perfectly flat. Recommend checking tightness/sealing of muffler/resonator connection while parts are off the car. See if the parts mate properly without the gasket. I am returning this part to the store and ordering another one in hopes it is better. Also make sure the pipe doesn't stick out beyond the flange. The Walker brand can have the same problem at both ends since they use the same design as OEM. In other words manufacturing QC on flange fit/quality welding does not seem very good. I've already returned 1 Walker (The replacement seems like it will work but but I like the Bosal better). And now I have to get a replacement Bosal. If the second Bosal is also defective I'm just going to go with the Walker. Both are life warranty but I think the Bosal will last a bit longer. OEM seems more heavy duty but only 12 mo 12 mile and the original one rusted out at the back resonator and at the back flange a long time ago. Had a shop weld in a new resonator. Just cut the flange off the muffler and used a short pipe and exhaust clamps from store to fix that end but the short pipe continually rusts out and it's a pain to get it off, clean up the ends of the oem pipes and put a new short "union" piece back on. Hate to replace the OEM muffler as that still seems to be going strong even after 165K miles but whatever.
