I changed out my fuel gauge sending unit, and when I disconnected the fuel lines, there was almost no back pressure on the fuel lines. So, I decided while I had everything apart, I would go ahead and change the fuel pump. I am so glad I did. My 1990 Chevy C1500 with the 5.7 V-8 had a very bad stumble on mid range power. I had previously replaced the throttle body, which did help, but the problem still persisted. After installing the sending unit and fuel pump, I couldn't beleive how much more power the truck has, and the mid range stumble is almost non existant. If you have an older vehicle, it is definitely worth the extra money just for the peace of mind having the new fuel pump, and you may be pleasently suprised how much better your vehicle runs when you get done.

Store only had one in stock and someone else had already scavenged a few parts and the instructions. Lucky for me the parts I needed were still in the box and with some common sense, the pump is in and the truck is running.Kit included a couple of different electrical pigtails (too long of course) metal hose clamps and a short stiff hose that was too hard to get on.

Comments about Bosch Electrical Fuel Pump Kit:

This pump was for my 1991 GMC Sononma with a 4.3l,with 166000 miles. The truck ran great in the winter time but, as the outside air temps began to climb above 80* the truck would begin to shut off at idle and became very hard to restart if at all. I checked the fuel pressure and it was below 5psi, which this TBI system is rated for 10 to 13psi. So I shopped around at all the OTHER guys and found that Advance had the best part and price, with the purchase online discount. I even had to drive a several extra miles to get this pump which I don't mind if I can get a quality part and good price. I didn't have any help to change this pump and had to do it in my driveway. Since this is my work truck, and I didn't want to drain the gas either, I used a drill and a small body saw to cut and access hole above the fuel pump sending unit assembly. I then changed out the pump and put a couple of strips of metal across the hole and rivoted the piece I had cut out, then put the bedliner back in place. Quick note, the day after changing this pump I started smelling fumes, I found with the pump making the correct pressure the lines at the front of the truck were leaking, a couple of turns on the clamps and it was good to go. So make sure you check the fuel system front to back for leaks after you install the pump, and a installing a new fuel filter at this time would also be a good idea.

I used this pump with the spectra sender for my 1995 chevy c1500 and it fit perfectly. It came with multiple connections, probably for different vehicles but it had the correct conection. pump is very quiet. between the new sender and pump there was plenty of parts to find the right parts. went together fairly easy.

I purchased the fuel pump and sending unit about a week apart, assembled them and installed them into the gas tank. Very easy to assemble. I do reccomend replacing both the sending unit and fuel pump at the same time. You don't want to have to drop the tank a week or two later to install the other one !! Dropping the gas tank was about the hardest part because my truck is getting old and rusty underneath. be sure to wear safety glasses and the tank may be heavy depending on how much gas is in the tank !!
Also I would reccomend purchasing new gas tank straps. I had to run back to the parts store to get them...haha

I have a chevy 87 s10 that I believe the fuel pump needs to be replaced. a week ago it died at a redlight and was very hard to start. then once it is started very hard to keep running, you have to really play w throttle. does not run good enough to drive. replaced the fuel filter which was pretty stopped up, helped a little. I'm know fuel pump is still operating but not enough pressure.

Does this sound like a common fuel pump issue? Thx

Yes, the issue should be with your fuel pump. However, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis before buying and having parts installed that may not (solve/be) the problem.

How about your in line fuel filter mounted on the frame before you replace the pump.

No it sounds like an EGR problem.
