Temperature-controlled valve located in the hot leg between the engine and radiator. Often mounted on the cylinder head. Controls the flow of coolant through the radiator and regulates heat dissipation. The thermostat allows the engine to reach its operating temperature as quickly as possible to reduce oil dilution, cylinder bore wear, fuel consumption, exhaust emissions and improve the efficiency of the heating system. Self-cleaning design. Includes a long stroke for maximum cooling performance..

    I was needing clarification on the thermostat temperature rating (i.e. 170 degrees, 180 degrees). Is this the temperature when the thermostat engages? If so, because I live in a cold climate would I want the 170 degree thermostat? Thanks

      The temperature rating of this Thermostat (Part No. 143-0654) manufactured by Beck/Arnley is 180 degrees.

      The thermostat is located in the housing where the upper radiator hose attaches to the engine.
