  • Q:

It says this is the one i need for 2010 VW Beetle 2.5L 5 cyl., BPR, inside tank, (not sure if plastic or metal tank?)

I also noticed you told the other person that ask a question here, that it did not have a fuel regulator. But if it works for this car, wouldn't it have to have a regulator built into it, if it is located inside the fuel tank? Isn't that what the extra input is to?

Can you please tell me what all 4 connections are for?

It looks just like the OEM one i found, EXCEPT for what i assume is the small wire connection. The one on mine and the OEM is FLAT.(for the flat-style connector) This one on your site has a round one instead of flat, so i am assuming i will have to change the manufacture connection from flat to round in order for it to work, right?
Why would it be round, if it is made to fit my car, is what i can't figure out?
Also please don't forget if you will, to let me know what each connection will be connected to.
Thanks so much for your valuable expertise help

Hi Scottyboy, I'm glad to assist you. This Beck/Arnley Fuel Filter (Part No. 043-1070) is not an in-tank fuel filter but an in-line fuel filter. The Beck/Arnley's in-tank filters are in the 043-3xxx series. Also, European vehicles are newer to the in-tank fuel filter concept or have both in-tank and in-line fuel filters to assist with the quality of life in the region such as a wetter climate and dirty roads. Please confirm whether your vehicle has a metal or plastic tank as there are different fuel systems and thus fuel filters assigned to each tank style. If your 2010 Volkswagen Beetle 2.5L has a metal fuel tank then it would require the Beck/Arnley Fuel Filter (Part No. 043-1025) and if it has a plastic tank then the Beck/Arnley Fuel Filter (Part No. 043-1070) is the correct filter for it.

Now, regarding the fuel pressure regulator, they are typically part of the fuel pump assembly in the fuel tank, not part of an in-line fuel filter. What can be part of an in-line fuel filter is a bypass pressure valve and these are typically found in in-tanks that have that "hump" on the input side but can also have a pressure rating on cap. These fuel filters does not have ground connections on them to remove static electricity.

Regarding the connections, there is an input, an output, a return, and a mounting alignment dowel. If you are not familiar with these terms or this type of repair then we strongly recommend you taking the vehicle to a licensed Volkswagen technician to complete the filter change.
