These went into a 2004 Ford Explorer 4.0 liter coupled with Autolite wires at 125K. I was running original Motorcraft wires, with Autolite plugs since 50K. All went well after the install for two weeks, then misfires started. I first changed out the wires for Motorcraft and checked gaps, but the problem persisted. I then went to Motorcraft plugs and the misfire problem was fixed. Spend the extra couple of dollars for the better plugs and save the time and aggravation.

Comments about Autolite Platinum Spark Plug:

I have used 2 sets of this brand plug in my 2002 Explorer since 95,000 miles, vehicle now has 217,000. This set will probably last until the old Ford dies.

Comments about Autolite Platinum Spark Plug:

The manager at the store was extremely courteous and helpful - the plugs showed on the computer as being "in stock" but only had 4 (needed 6). She was able to remedy the situation by giving me two upgraded plugs. My vehicle has almost 200,00 miles so these should be the last plugs I will ever install!

                  A:

Hi gfjbthllr, Autolite does not establish recommendations for spark plug service intervals, but rather, follows the recommendations of the vehicle manufacturer. Autolite spark plugs should be replaced at least as often as the vehicle manufacturers recommended change interval. We suggest you refer to your vehicle owner’s manual, local vehicle dealer, or refer to a reputable automotive service facility for information on appropriate mileage service intervals.
