I bought this battery for a '97 Mercury Mountaineer with a 5.0L V8 in it and find it solved my problems quickly and easily.
I had previously replaced the battery in this truck with one from a parts wholesaler, supposedly one of their "top of the line". It ended up not being able to hold a charge decently after just one year.
While I haven't had this one a year yet, the performance I get from it already tells me it's a much better battery, especially for the price.
The Mountaineer is my 2nd truck, only used when my primary is being used for something else.
This truck also has a 24/7 remote alarm/starter system on it, something that sucked the previous battery down in just a few days.
I've been able to start the truck, both remotely and with the key, without any difficulty even after two weeks of just sitting. No constant grinding or prayers for the engine to catch. Starts right up as if I'd driven it yesterday or had it on a charger all the time.
Definitely worth the money.
The only "con" I have is the word "economy" running across the top. This is not an "economy" battery but a good, solid, mainline one that does what I want, when I want, without hassles.
Who can ask for more than that?

Only had a month so far but all is good. I was not sure I needed a new battery but took the chance and after the first start, it was clear the new battery was the way to go. The free installation was awesome and they did it without losing power to the engine's computer.

This is my first time for buying at Advance, and am very happy I stopped by, I was treated human with respect, they helped changed my old battery, paid for it and gave me 20 percent discount as well. Pls my advice to u all, stay away from Arch Auto parts at Merrick Blvd, a guy call Blaine is a no good customer service guy, arrogant, no parking area, and expensive parts. Try Advance Auto.

  • Q:

How does charging your phone (electronic devices) in the vehicle affect the battery?
Asked on 12/20/2016 by Josh from Whiteriver, Arizona

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

Good question, Josh! Charging your phone via your car is "simply energy transfer from your car's battery to your phone battery," says Duffy. So, if you had a 100Ah car battery, and your phone's battery was 1.8Ah (which is equal to 1800mAh), a completely dead handset would pull less than 2% of the charge out of your vehicle.

  • Q:

What setting on a battery charger should be best for this battery?
Asked on 10/22/2016 by Ralph from PA-Pennsylvania

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

Hi Ralph, glad to help you! The best way to charge a battery is very low amps over a long time so the 12 volts, 2 amps selection will be fine. It will take a long time to charge completely at only 2 amps, maybe 10 to 12 hours for a complete charge if it is completely dead now. However, when it comes to repair and maintenance it is always recommended referring the owner's manual for the exact specifications to get better and safer results.

my truck starter went out at the end of December 2014.I was nt able to get it fixed for six months. tried to jump battery will not stay charged enough for truck to start. Should I junk it and get a new one? I bought this one at advance on Burnham.
Asked on 6/25/2015 by cookie from milwaukee, wisconsin

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

Hi Cookie, as there could be different reasons for this starting problem, without the presence of your vehicle we would not be able to properly diagnose it, nor provide you with a 100% answer. I would suggest that you take your vehicle and get it thoroughly checked by a certified mechanic before buying any parts that may/may not solve the problem.

  • Q:

Is there a core or do you purchase my spent battery?
Asked on 1/5/2015 by Tom from Wyandotte MI

Yes Tom, this battery has a core charge. I would suggest you to enter your Zip Code into the Advance Auto Part’s website to see the accurate price and core charge for the part number 65-0.

Hi Mike, glad to assist you! There is no predetermined amount of battery life. So many variables come into play that it really depends on the situation at hand. Typically a battery will last up to 5 years if maintained properly and might last for as long as 12 years.

Does this battery have a prorated warranty after the first 12 months and if so what is it?
Asked on 12/17/2012 by Boone from Waverly, TN

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

This Economy Battery, Group Size 65, 650 CCA part# 65-0 has 1 year free replacement warranty. Free Replacement Period begins the day of purchase and expires at the end of the Free Replacement Period printed on your original sales receipt. This period does not renew when the battery is replaced during the Free Replacement Period. If the battery becomes defective after the Free Replacement Period and prior to the end of the warranty period, the warranty benefit will be prorated and can either be credited toward the purchase of a new battery or refunded at our option. The proration amount shall be determined by dividing the purchase price by the number of months of the warranty period, then multiplying the result by the months remaining in the warranty period. Installation of an automotive battery in any other type of vehicle or equipment voids your warranty.
