Vehicles with automatic transmissions have a flex plate. Flex plates connect the engine and transmission. Most flex plates are made of a thick piece of sheet metal with bolt holes for the torque converter and teeth for the starter. The job of a flex plate is to allow for expansion of the torque converter as engine RPM increases. The constant expansion and contraction of a flex plate over time can result cracks and/or shearing of the flex plate. A damaged flex plate can create serious (expensive) damage. Broken flex plates can not be repaired, they must be replaced. ATP flex plates are made of high quality steel and contain the correct bolt hole spacing and ring gear teeth just like the original part to ensure long life and durability

Good replacement part
Good flexplate for the money. The fact it was made in Mexico worried me, but when I compared it to the OEM part I was replacing, it was exact in all dimensions including thickness. My original plate was cracked after 300k miles and was making a noise like a lower end bearing knock. The new plate fit perfectly and functions flawlessly- no more noise.
It is important to remember to check the torque converter clearance before bolting everything up because if it is not correct the new flex plate will break in a short amount of time. Use loc-tite on the bolts and torque everything down carefully and you will have no problems at all.
Good part, does the job and for a great price!

Replaced mines 4 months ago with a new torque converter also from advance auto and its cracked again. Not as durable as the oem one.

CURED THE NOISE PROBLEM

FAIR WORKMANSHIP. BOX SAID MADE IN CHINA BUT FLEXPLATE WAS STAMPED MADE IN MEXICO ????. SO FAR THE FLEXPLATE HAS BEEN DOING IT'S JOB AS IT SHOULD. OLD FLEXPLATE HAD A KNOCKING SOUND ASSOCIATED WITH THE PLATE BEING CRACKED. THIS NEW PLATE CURED THAT PROBLEM.
