Automotive paint projects come in all shapes and sizes. Whether you are a professional paint technician tackling collision repairs, a restoration specialist, or a DIYer touching up your own small repair, Advance Auto Parts and Carquest will help you identify the right products to achieve lasting and professional results.
The best results require the best products. Advance Auto Parts offers the most trusted brands in the industry to help you achieve the lasting, professional results you depend on. Advance offers base coat, single stage, clear coat, custom-mixed aerosol, and even custom colors to repaint your entire vehicle. We can also mix it all and will stand by the quality of our product.
Because your vehicle is naturally exposed to harsh UV rays and varying weather conditions that can cause fading on a regular basis, it may not be possible to mix an exact color match for a spot-repair. A spectrophotometer, more commonly referred to as a color camera, can be used to scan your vehicle and produce the most accurate color match for your vehicle.
To ensure we mix the most accurate color possible for your vehicle, simply bring the following information to your closest Advance Auto Parts or Carquest store that offers paint mixing:
Year
Make
Model
Manufacturer paint code located on trim plate
If you cannot locate the specific paint code for your vehicle, one of our team members can help you identify the correct code. You may also be able to identify your vehicle's paint code by providing your vehicle identification number (VIN) to your local vehicle specific dealership.
A vehicle's trim plate is in one of several different places depending on the manufacturer. Since this can vary so widely, below is a list of common locations where you may find the trim plate and your vehicle's color code:
Driver's side door jamb
Under the driver's seat
Inside the glove box
Under the hood near the radiator or firewall
Trunk lid or inside the trunk jamb
Middle console
Spare tire wheel well
Sun visor
For smaller repairs where less product is needed to achieve a proper repair, our team members can provide you with an aerosol spray can filled with paint that is specific to your vehicle based on the manufacturer paint code you provide. This is a great method for simple DIY repairs and non-application specific paint needs. Due to the small amounts of toner pigment that are used to fill the spray can, we cannot guarantee an exact color match with custom aerosol spray cans.
Any Advance Auto Parts or Carquest location that mixes paint can provide you with as much paint as your job requires. Gallons, quarts, pints, and half pints are the most popular sizes, but we can assist you with any size needed. A half pint or more is recommended to allow the appropriate amount of each color pigment to help create the most accurate color match.
We have nearly 300 locations nationwide that can help you with all your paint and body repair needs. You can simply go to our store locator and filter your store search by services offered.
Even if you don't have a need for mixed paint, our stores carry a wide assortment of repair tools and supplies. Sandpaper, body fillers, spot putties, and masking paper are just some of the products that we offer so you can get what you need quickly and confidently.
