Here's how to replace windshield wiper blades on your own – and save money:

Consult your owner's manual for the location of the windshield washer fluid reservoir and any special instructions for wiper blade removal. Measure the length of each wiper blade.

  1. Carefully lift the wiper assembly off the windshield. Locate the end with a fastening clip.
  2. Use pliers to compress the wiper blade refill clip. Pull the wiper blade refill lengthwise out of the wiper assembly.
  3. Insert the new wiper blade refill into wiper assembly.
  4. Secure the fastening clip. Push the clip into the last wiper assembly mount until it clicks into place.
  5. Dampen a soft, clean cloth with wiper fluid. Clean the wiper blade before placing on the windshield glass.
  6. Locate and top off the windshield fluid reservoir with wiper fluid. Test the system operation.

If the system does not operate, locate the windshield fluid sprayer nozzles. Check for blockage. Clear any debris by gentle use of a thumbtack or needle.
