This product doesn't fit the 5.8 liter engine for the 1979 Mercury Marquis Brougham, the wire harnesses are wrong and mine is original. Maybe it fits the 5.0 but not the 5.8 liter.

Just put one in. Figured I'd take for a test ride before work tomorrow, truck ran rough before I put the new one in. Started truck with new one, died. Figured the computer needed to relearn parameters. I was wrong. Took it around the block and had to end up walking home to get my original ICM. Couldn't get the truck to fire with the new one. After 2 hours of waking to get the original abs installing. Truck fired right up. New on we fired in less than 20 minutes. Do not recommend aftermarket.

So far working fine! Check engine light is off and truck is running much better. Of course keep in mind this is the 3rd unit I put some 1994! The truck has 463k miles. I believe the heat vibration and exposure to the elements kill theses parts after about five or six years. No complaints here!

I had the same problems as the other reviewer. It didn't come with grease, and I had to carefully drill out the plastic to get the screws in, But once I got it installed the truck runs well, and that's all that counts.
