  Description

Some K&N 57S Series Performance Air boxes are compliant with the latest TUV emissions and sound regulations.     I'm using this on my 2013 Ford Escape with the 2.0L Ecoboost. It fits great. I had a concern that it would be tough to fit since it's not specifically listed for the Escape. But knowing it's the same engine as the Focus ST, I felt confident. You can get just the filter, but this includes the airbox lid. Yeah, the price difference for just the lid seems silly, but I found a $50 coupon which helped offset the cost. This was easy to install as I only needed to loosen the 4 screws on the factory airbox lid and swap them onto the new K&N airbox lid. The lid is slightly taller than OEM and doesn't have the air baffles in the underside. Making a nice smooth surface to use. The filter is now open ended so it gets a bit more air into the intake. When you accelerate hard, you can hear a little bit of a deeper tone. Nothing too obnoxious. I give it 4 stars because of the cost for "just the lid" seems high even after my discount I had.

    The increased airflow and improved sound from this intake kit are worth the price. It gives a nice, throaty intake tone without being annoying. Intake air temperatures stay cooler vs. other "short ram" offerings, such as the 67-series K&N. Another option would be to install just the filter from this kit (E-9289), as the airbox lid isn't really needed. That is the only reason I didn't give this a 5-star rating.
