I bought this sensor thinking it was the right coolant temperature sensor I needed. However, when I plugged it in, the coolant temperature gauge on the dash did not register when there was a change in coolant temp. The correct part ended up being the "Engine coolant temperature switch" aka temperature sending unit. I have a 2000 Ford Econoline E-150 4.2L V6. For some reason on my van, the part labelled "B" in the picture goes to the coolant temperature gauge on the dash, so I needed the switch not the sensor.
