Quality product. The cylinder designations on the top of the coil were reversed. Not a problem. Just need to install plug wires accordingly.

Its frustrating enough to diagnose a random misfire. After plugs and wires didn't fix the problem, I decided to swap out the factory coil with 229k miles on it because 1 and 5 were throwing misfires. After I learned that these cylinders are controlled by the same coil with 2 towers. Therefore, there are 3 coils to run this V6 engine. Now it makes sense why 1 and 5 are misfiring and the rest are fine. Anyhow, I bought a different brand coil that was a little less money and proceeded to pay the difference by wasting over 4 hours of my time and more than the difference in price in fuses. After putting the original coil back in and all the problems went away, I took the other brand coil back and paid the up-charge to buy this NGK. The first one came in the next day and I took it out of the box to find little black plastic chunks in the sealed bag. Unfortunately, most of the plug for the signal wires was broken. This was not a manufactured defect, but happened by all too common rough shipping and handling. Fortunately for me, another was returned that morning to the store and was not broken, so we exchanged them. It took about 10 minutes to change the coil out and am positive this has corrected the misfire after a test drive. It is unfortunate that I wasted an entire afternoon on a ten minute job, but that's just another lesson to why parts from a solid brand the industry trusts is always a better value. I acknowledge that not all parts made by other brands are bad, but I will be buying from known brands, with hopefully better quality control, from now on

The part worked well for about 2.5 months. Then the RPM's would jump when coming off the gas and a few days later the truck would not start. I replaced it with a factory unit and 100% fix. Quality control is not very good and the materials are of low quality when compared to the factory unit which is just about the same price at the time I bought it.

Its frustrating enough to diagnose a random misfire. Changed out the factory coil with 229k miles on it because 1 and 5 were throwing misfires. These cylinders are controlled by the same coil with 2 towers. There are 3 coils to run this V6 engine. Now it makes sense. Anyhow, got this coil installed and immediately the truck will not crank. Tracked that down to a 15 amp fuse in the driver side dash panel, which took the better part of an hour. Replaced that and started it up. Ran so rough i thought I mixed up the plug wires, although I was positive I did not. This thought passed very quickly because after "running" for about 5 seconds, the entire car just shut down. No dash lights, no dinging, no engine, nothing. Tracked this down to a 25 amp JCASE fuse under the hood. After an hour trying to find a 25 amp JCASE fuse in town with no luck, I bought an inline fuse holder that uses regular mini fuses, that I have a ton of, rigged it up to the spades where the JCASE fuse is supposed to go, started it up and got the same result. Ran horribly for 5 seconds and then blew the fuse. Changed the coil to the original, replaced the fuse, and we are back to where I started, minus 4 hours or more of my time. I acknowledge that not all parts made by this brand are bad, and other manufactures can also put a bad part in a box, but I returned this coil and bought the NGK 48806 instead.
