The automated parts selector said that this axle is an exact fit for a 2000 VW New Beetle GLS with a 2.0 liter and the Automatic transmission. That is NOT true. While it fits, the axle shaft is noticeably thinner than the original equipment one. VW engineers realized that by making the passenger axle shaft thicker in this car, they could eliminate torque steer. Apparently those who sold this part to Advanced auto p[arts did not care about that, and Advance auto parts purchaser did not understand that either. It is going back. I will be getting a full refund.

Wrong part. Advance Auto Parts has a problem differentiating parts for the 2005 Jetta. There was a change in the middle of the year in engine and Advance cannot figure that out. We even brought in the old and compared it to the new and told the clerk that we thought it was the wrong one, but he insisted we had the right part.

The first CV axle I received was in the correct box, but the axle was the incorrect model and missing the nut. Exchanging it was smooth, and the staff at Advance Auto parts were very helpful. This was my first time replacing a CV joint or axle. It took me a few hours, but the new CV axle fits well. The vehicle drives smoother, and no more grease flinging around from the torn boot.
