2003 Taurus had a squeaking sound coming from the center of the engine and would occasionally stall at idle. Did some internet research and found that a bad bearing in the cam syncronizer unit is a typical Taurus problem. Watched a youtube video, bought the part and installed it in about 30 minutes. The rebuilt unit included a new cam sensor unit. (Nice bonus)

Installed it with no problems. Oil it up before you install it. And make sure you time it properly!

I had a chirp that sounded like the belt. After replacing the belt and the tensioner the chirp was still there. It sounded exactly like a bad belt or pulley.I did some research and decided to try this part.It solved the issue and when I pulled it and spun the shaft it made the chirping noise intermittenly.I checked the play in the shaft and it was barely noticable compared to the play in the new one but it was having an effect on performance. The truck used to ping going up hills after I got 45,000 miles on her it didn't start chirping though till around 70,000.That is gone now.It took 20 minutes to change and there is a video on Youtube that is excellent.I got this for 30 after using a coupon. The dealer wanted 160 plus the sensor was an extra 30.This comes with the new sensor.Great deal. The shop won't admit this is the issue till after they charge you for a new belt and pulley you don't need.

Received code for the sensor but could feel the chirping when placing my hand on the sensor with car running. My purchase did not show up on the system, the associate took the time to call the store that I got it from before the merger with car quest. Saved me a trip back with the purchase date from my bank card online archive. That's why I keep shopping at Advance, they take care of the customer.

I bought this sensor from another company and after only about 10K miles, it seized. This sent cast iron shards into my oil pan and stopped driving the oil pump (since this sensor drives the oil pump). I can't say how disappointing this is. Now I'm going to have to do a ton of work just to get my engine running again. I will never again buy a Dorman sensor for any car ever. If I had been driving on the highway, it would have destroyed my engine. As it is, I'm not sure if the engine will be O.K. after the cast iron gear parts shed from this sensor.

Item is remanufactured and it appears that no attention is paid to the overall sensor body. The sensor would not fit in the opening of the engine. The lower body of the sensor was out-of-round which would not allow it to pass through the opening in the intake manifold. I returned the item [...].
