    This seal was difficult to install due to the snug fit of the steel outer ring (compared to rubber coated on the OEM). Additionally, the rubber deflector which is molded into the seam outside of the actual sealing surface was a simpler design than the OEM and will provide less protection than the OEM design. In spite of the challenges installing it and the design differences, it appears to be sealing so far (20 miles). Given the time required to install the seal, going OEM or equivalent makes a lot more sense.

    Bottom Line not recommended

    This axle seal does not fit a 2008 Toyota Rav4 differential as indicated on the site. The OEM seal does not use a metallic ring like this one and is slightly smaller in diameter than the National Seal. A cross reference site could not be found on the National web site.
