I ordered this part and had it installed, along with the pickup tube, because my 2005 Silverado 5.3L (with 200K miles) has been ticking for the last year. But no more (no noise at start up or even after driving for a while). The factory pump put out 30-35 PSI when cold (idle) and when revving (no change in pressure). After a few miles of driving, the ticking would start. Also, I park on an incline and frequently have a bit of noise when cold. The old pump maxed out at 45 PSI when warm. This thing is a beast. I left the high pressure spring installed. My cold idle is 65 PSI and warm, it drops down to 45-50 PSI at idle. 1200 RPMs its around 60 PSI warm. It never gets down to 40 PSI on my truck, and no more lifter noise. I had two different mechanics tell me different things, but they generally wanted to replace the camshafts and lifters (or just let my engine fall apart in a year or two). Since my lifter noise varied based on oil pressure, it seemed that I should start with a new oil pump. Labor was not cheap to drop the pan and replace the pump, but it is worth it. Oil pressure is responsive to engine speed cold or warm. My old o-ring looked OK, but it could have been swollen. Don't know. Don't care.

I HAVE A 2008 CHEVY TAHOE THAT I HAVE PUT THREE OF THESE PUMPS IN, IN THE PAST YEAR AND A HALF. MY ENGINE IS LIKE NEW INSIDE. SUPER CLEAN, TIGHT, RUNS GREAT. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON TO GO THROUGH PUMPS LIKE THIS. MY LAST ONE DIDN'T EVEN MAKE IT TO 3000 MILES. I'VE NEVER BEEN ONE TO BASH BUT THESE PUMPS ARE JUNK. I WISH I COULD SAY THEY SUCK. BUT THEY DON'T EVEN DO THAT RIGHT. I'LL NEVER BUY ANOTHER ONE.
