The product seems well-made and was fairly easy to install. It replaced my old rusted out parking brake cables, but the new cables seem to be a little too short. I was able to make it work by only partially threading the bolts onto the handbrake mechanism. I have a 99.5 GTI 2.0L AEG, from what I can tell, this model calls for a 67.5" parking brake cable rather than 66.5" on this part.

After getting the old parking brake cables out, these were easy to install. Works great on my 99.5 VW Jetta GLS

This is the 'heavy duty' replacement for the OEM VW brake cables - they are larger in diameter than the stock ones, so you'll want to replace the clips with VW Part 1J0609734 (and possibly 6X0609657A as well). It's great to be able to find these locally, but the rubber 'boot' failed after 1 year requiring replacement. Fortunately, the cable still moved freely.

This cable worked but is different from OEM. It has a thicker (double??) jacket. You would normally think more protection is a good thing, but the problem is that the original clamps/hangers don't fit the thicker jacket very well. I'm hoping that it works in the long run and that the clamps/hangers don't end up pinching the inner cable over time.
