Bought this IAC to replace bad, dirty IAC on 2002 F-350 V10 6.8L. With old bad IAC, idle was stuck at 1500+ RPM after ignition or depressing gas pedal and release then slowly come down. Installed new IAC (this one) and now it idles as it should (around 850 RPM). However, after driving then stopping, RPM gets stuck around 1000 RPM then suddenly drops to normal 850 RPM after few seconds of complete stop. It puzzled me why it is doing that and thought something else is wrong. Checked for vacuum leak, but could not find any. As last resort, decided to try cleaning old IAC and re-install it. Now, it is working perfectly. This IAC by BWD has different design from genuine IAC. There is a spring that keeps valve open when IAC is not powered. This spring may be the cause of this problem. What I think is happening is this spring causes IAC to require more force to close valve and default setting from ECU is not enough to close valve to correct level. Now, ECU is reading higher than normal idle speed, it it must be telling IAC to close more (more force on valve) then IAC reacts suddenly to close valve. I may be wrong, but this is only possibilty I can think of other than the IAC valve I bought is defect. Unless what I bought was defect, this IAC will not in 2002 F350 V10 6.8L as it was intended. I'm returning this valve.
